If you had never given a thought about building a greenhouse this might be mildly helpful, but for anyone else you'll find it annoyingly elementary. But critical information is completely absent. For example, ventilation is a key component of greenhouses. Fan or no fan? How much ventilation? How many CFM for a give square foot in a give climate zone? Damper controls? Locations of dampers? Absolutely no guidance is given. Similar vague treatment of pretty much every other topic.There are many good greenhouse books out there. And lots of free guidance on the web. Spend your resources in those areas.

This book has many good points to recommend it, depending on your interests and skills. It would be a good reference for anyone contemplating construction of a greenhouse of one of several possible construction styles.It goes into considerable detail on both stand alone and lean-to style enclosures, as well as some detail on hoop style models. It is best read as a sort of overview survey of construction fundamentals applicable to the described configurations.Most of the description is in the form of text, and some with numbered paragraphs. While there are some drawings, most of the description is textual. If there is ever to be a later edition, I suggest the author replace at least some of the text description with drawings.While it would be possible for a construction neophyte to successfully construct a greenhouse of one of the included configuration styles with nothing more than this book for a reference, I think most readers would want to augment his or her library with additional construction references. G R E A T ! ! ! ! We have a small Greenhouse, and the information in this book is easy to read, easy to understand, and really, really helpful ! I wish we'd had this book when we were building our Greenhouse..... I would have done a few things differently ... Especially when it comes to heating / cooling / and ventilation !

If you already know which end of the screwdriver is sharp this one is probably not for you. This book is very, VERY basic. I did find the history of greenhouses very interesting but the rest of the book is way beneath even an average do it yourself type who already has some understanding of the purpose and function of a greenhouse. It's a low grade trade format on cheap paper with grainy black and white photos, so does not even provide inspirational photos to spur your creativity.

This book is written in simple step by step instructions but first covers the essentials to greenhouses, types of greenhouses, and everything you need to know and decide if you want a greenhouse. It is well written, easy to understand, simple yet informative. A small but extremely packed with just what you need to know.

I was considering building my own green house to help in growing veggies. This book has fantastic, easy to understand information and plans on how to build your own. Glad I bought it.
