I Passed the 473 Exam in 11/2013! If it wasn't for this book, most likely I would not have! My memory needed some sharpening tools and this book provided the tools needed. I purchased the online/ebook version; downloaded the book to my desktop with options provided; studied the book in less than 24 hours before the test and passed! (Being a college student may have helped some) Nevertheless, the book comes with practice tests and the formats are similar to the actual test. Great book and I would recommend it to anyone!

I ordered this (despite the not-so-great reviews) hoping I would find a gem during my upcoming trip with my Popup going from South FL, AL, MS, TN, and LA. NOT!! I first checked FL and there is one entry on the east coast. No camping.The 15 pages dedicated to "Eastern States" shows a conservation etc office in Milwaukee, Douglas Point, MD; a research office in Springfield, VA; Jupiter Inlet Natural Area, FL; Lake Vermilion Public Islands, MN; Meadowood, suburban VA; and....that's it!!!Lots of places in AK, NV, CA, NM, AZ, OR, Wa, and ID. Would appeal mostly to people who like rustic, off grid locales and activities, preferably not alone (for safety reasons). They do indicate whether there are camping facilities (mostly primitive) on site or in the vicinity and where supplies (and closest First Aid help) are available. Good for site selection by group leaders such as the Sierra Club outings and other organizations who look for wilderness spots.Headings are Location; Description; Directions; Visitor Activities; Special Features; Permits, Fees, Limitations; Accessibility; Camping and Lodging; Food and Supplies; First Aid; Additional Information; and Contact Information.The Accessibility section refers mostly to wheelchairs. Covers restrooms, picnic areas, and some trails. I think this is valuable information for people with disabilities.For me it will be mostly educational - history and geography. The introduction helped understand how the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) was created and the types of properties (National Monuments, National Conservation Areas, Wilderness and Wilderness Study Areas, National Scenic and Historic Trails, and Wild and Scenic Rivers) it encompasses. It is a nice book on blm public lands, with pictures and descriptions. However, the sites are those "recommended" for visitors and Not a complete list of all blm site locations that can be used. When I purchased the book, I simply wanted a complete listing of all blm locations, which I could then research further.

Love the information in it,, the info about BLM is great a lot I never knew. I do wish it had larger print. When you where glasses and your eyes aren't great tiny print is not helpful. Other than that I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to use public land discover the great places not necessarily advertised.

I was expecting an extensive listing of BLM recreational opportunities. I checked my state, Nevada, and found that none of the BLM properties that I frequent were even mentioned. Only a few BLM properties were listed for Nevada, none of which sounded appealing.

The book I purchased, while dated, was still useful. I would recommend a newer, fresher version or a different book

Book identifies where the parks are which is good. The map and directions are not so great. Wish it listed GPS coordinates to make it easier to find. COE parks are just terrific to stay in for camping.

Good reference.

The subject says it all. It is really disjointed and misses some significant features of the West Coast. Not too useful.

This book will work best for the person exploring the claims of a faith based life but who struggles with the competing claims of secular reasoning and its cohort, "science falsely so called." It argues for a educational approach linked to the more sure foundation of scripture. The book serves as a running commentary of various secular apologists but none so much as Samuel Harris's, THE MORAL LANDSCAPE: HOW SCIENCE CAN DETERMINE HUMAN VALUES. Repeatedly Kuntz brings the reader back to the wretched reasonings of secular moralists who think that their concept of science trumps bible. Kuntz's dealing with Carbon 14 dating is especially brilliant and easy for the layman to understand. He deals with the issue of "natural selection" in a well informed take down of the shallow thinking prevalent in our secular educational system. This book starts slow and a little awkward but it would be a mistake to put it down before getting to the well reasoned meat Kuntz offers up. I will retain it as a reference book for times that I need to help those who struggle with the broad road of secular reasoning.

Many say that they do not believe in God because they believe in science, however science has its origin in God, and Kuntz does a wonderful job in proving that in his writing. He covers many of the same topics as the late Dr. Henry Morris and other creation scientists, but from different angles, making for an informative and interesting read. This book reveals how much more sensible God's way is when compared to the secular way of thinking. You will definitely benefit from this book.

This volume was quite heart-warming to read. I empathize with Akira's struggle in this volume. Having something that you love to do (in this case, running) be taken away from you by unexpected circumstances hurts. Her passion still burns, she wishes to return to the thing that brings her joy. But the fear of further pain, and the possibility of never being able to run again haunts her. I look forward to see how Akira overcomes her fears and find happiness once more.I also enjoyed Kondo's development in this story. His passion to writing novels had consumed his life and has brought nothing but pain and regrets. Despite all that, his love to write still lingers, he wishes to continue. True, not everyone's gonna love what you do, but there are people that appreciate you for who you are. Hopefully, this helps him learn from his past mistakes and give him the courage and push write once more.So far, this has become my favorite volume of the series. I can't wait to read the following volume and see how the rest of the story plays out.

Bought this for the required reading for my graduate school young adult class. As a teacher for undergrads, I'm not sure they would have related to it.

One of my favorites books as a teenager, I read it twice as a class assignment and again on my own both times it took me less than a hour to complete

Read the book when I was 16, and it was great to find it again. It was like I was 16 again. Loved it !

A great coming of age and cautionary tale well written-as always by Paul Zindel.

When this book was out in the 70s, I remember a big fuss that the librarian made because I was 12 or 13 and wanted to read it and she thought I was too young to be reading that. Give me a break. There are two kinds of 13-year-olds in the world: the kind who just want to hang out and be good buddies with someone for a few years, and the uber-romantic kind who want to date and fall in love. I was the latter. This book was very interesting in a teen-movie-of-the-week sort of way - does anyone remember all those 70s movies about teenage girls losing their virginity and the consequences that resulted? Books like "My Darling, My Hamburger" and "Forever", as well as the movies, gave us a chance to think about those types of events and emotions and the possible outcomes, without actually having to DO the deed, which in hindsight I'll admit we were mostly not mature enough to handle.This book is about two teenage couples, Liz and Sean, and their respective friends Maggie and Dennis. Liz and Sean are the beautiful people - good looking and seemingly in true love with each other. Both of them have lousy home lives and are very happy to have a kindred spirit; the only bump in the road of their relationship is that Liz doesn't want to "go all the way" with Sean and when she finally does (after much hassle and a harrowing near-rape by another boy) she gets pregnant. The question then becomes whether Liz will have an illegal abortion or whether she and Sean will stay together and raise their child. Maggie and Dennis, on the other hand, are shy and a little bit clumsy, just starting to take their first steps into the world of dating, and since they have to watch and sometimes participate in the big soap opera between Liz and Sean, you can't hardly blame them for wanting to move a little slower. By the end of the book, Liz and Sean's lives are pretty well wrecked and Maggie and Dennis have matured into much more confident adults.The story is dated in some respects - for example, abortion is still illegal; teen pregnancy is a much more shameful condition than it is today; and the fashions, movies and dialogue in the book aren't exactly up to the minute. However, the main theme of how to balance first love and sexual desire without everything going kablooey still rings pretty true. As for the people who wonder why nice-but-shy Maggie would hang around with gorgeous Liz who's something of a jerk, I see this pairing all the time among young girls and older women too. The person who is acting like a jerk often has a pretty soft interior (as does Liz - she just hides a lot of it along with her insecurity) and the "nice" person often enjoys the excitement of being around a prettier and more popular girl, even going so far as to act in a "caretaker" role just as Maggie looks after Liz when she becomes ill. I would still recommend this book for teenagers interested in books about relationships, although I think girls would be the ones most likely to read and enjoy it since the male characters are less developed and with the exception of Dennis, act more like jerks.

I really enjoyed this book, even though it was written almost 40 years ago. I believe my mother read it when she was in school and told me about it. I'm pretty sure the corny title is what turned me away from it when I was younger, but I received the book in a book lot I ordered online, and I picked it up because it was, to me, a short read. I was instantly hooked. I really liked the characters and the writing style. Even though it was written so long ago, the situations and problems these four teens deal with, are always happening. I could easily portray them in today's time. Highly recommended!

Rosemary A. Chorzempa's 'Design Your Own Coat of Arms: An Introduction to Heraldry' is an enjoyable and informative book, full of crisp, detailed black and white sigils for the many, many, many houses and bloodlines out there.While I found it to be informative, it did read a bit slow, and I had trouble staying with it til the end. My son - no interest in it at all.Still, my ADD is my short coming, not the books, and so I still gave it high marks for originality and enjoyability. I probably would have liked this book more if the company I was working for hadn't tried to implement the information found here in a situation where it wasn't very applicable. The main problem is that this book is mostly geared toward hiring for executive-level positions, and a lot of the principles aren't transferable to hiring for other positions (an executive-level candidate might be OK going through 4 separate interviews, but your average Joe probably won't stay in the process that long). If you're hiring for the C-Level the this book is probably very useful; if not, you can still get some useful advise here, but don't plan on restructuring your hiring practices based on that.

I've been working with an executive coach for years to improve our success rate in hiring, and have learned a lot of hard lessons from hiring toxic people. Usually these things happened by a) not defining the role crisply and ensuring I know what I'm hiring for and why b) poisoning the interviews with things like leading questions, "selling" the candidate on the position, or giving too much information so the candidate parrotted the right answers to me; or c) failing to be really data-driven in managing people and figure out what works and doesn't over time. Of all the books that I've read, "Who" is by far the closest to the hiring and management processes I've developed with my coach's guidance. (And my coach is a GENIUS at hiring, by the way. He should write his own book.)

A great framework for all hiring managers. Incredibly detailed and formulaic. I find the process they use around scorecards for determining job criteria to be the most helpful part and the one I've got my company to adopt. The very specific interviews questions have been less useful as I'm hiring more junior people where prior work experience is more limited and specific skills are more needed.

What an amazing book on how to hire. I wish everyone was required to read this before hiring anyone or interviewing them for that matter. If 95% of interviews I have been to were conducted by people who understood this material I would have HOURS and DAYS of my life back, so would they, and we would also feel more secure about the decision either of us made in the end. Just read this book whether or not you're in a position that hires, as a person who gets interviewed it's valuable as well.

Excellent review of the hiring process, with lots of great ideas. I can't imagine anyone picking this up as part of their corporate training, and not being glad they did. Mostly because very few companies use the methods practiced by the authors (or if they do, they pay someone else to teach them how to do it correctly).

This is the best business book out there. In a very simple way, the authors provide a fact-based approach to building a culture of "A Player" talent. They literally spell out the steps (and give you the templates) to turn their recommendations into action. I've made this book required reading in my company. Every employee now has a scorecard and hiring is only permitted if the A Method is used. It's the real deal. Thank you to Geoff and Randy for publishing this book!!!

Kate Morton is a master at transporting you to another time and place and creating rich, layered, and believable characters. The Secret Keeper is a wonderful mix of mystery and historical fiction and has more of a modern feel than most of her other novels, both in writing style and setting. It's not set in a grand estate, rather WWII is the setting that acts as character. The 1940s contains the answers to the family mystery that "started" in the 1960s, which a daughter is trying to solve in the present day 2011. Morton jumps between time periods and writes from multiple characters' perspectives seamlessly. This book had a slower build for me than her other novels. Early on it felt destined to be my least favorite of her stories, but by the end it became the one I arguably appreciate most. It definitely won a place in my heart and permanent shelf. It took some time for me to become absorbed in the story, though the characters of Dolly, Vivien and Jimmy were intriguing from the start. However, the last third of the novel is un-put-downable. There is a sort of sinking feeling you get as the story unfolds and you learn more about the characters and ruminate on their futures. However, by the end of the novel this weight is lightened as you realize everyone's role in the family mystery. I've always loved how Morton is able to craft multiple mysteries and surprises. In this novel her ability to mix hints and red herrings was top-notch and kept me guessing and second guessing. I was able to predict some pieces correctly but they weren't obvious, which is a common frustration with many novels. She masterfully gives you enough to develop theories yet question them continually, leaves other pieces as true mysteries to keep you intrigued, and still manages to completely shock you with a surprise or two that fit wonderfully rather than feeling contrived. A slower build, but an incredibly satisfying finale that left me wanting to go back and re-read to pick up on all the clues and reacquaint myself with these characters I grew to understand, sympathize with, and in many ways, love.

Kate Morton demonstrated a great talent for getting into the heads of her characters and understanding their motivations. Her descriptions of both the tough and vulnerable characteristics of Dolly, Vivien and Jimmy kept me wanting to know more about them. I found myself drawn back to visit with them when I really was supposed to be otherwise engaged.At first I thought this would be an easy read, and I read casually. As time went on, I realized that the story was more complex than I had given it credit, and I started paying closer attention. I'm glad I did. While I am often frustrated because I figure out the ending of many novels long before I get there, I was very taken and surprised by the end. It is the best kind of novel that gives a full sense of closure and understanding at the end. Kudos to you, Ms Morton! I will be reading her other titles soon.

This is one of my favorite books of all-time! I enjoyed The Lake House a lot, but I this was even better! The characterization was amazing and I felt like I 'knew' all of the people in this book. This book was full of mystery, romance and plot twists, as well as a bit of history! I found myself thinking about it long after I had quit reading it for the day, trying to figure out what was going on and how it was going to end.

I had just completed another Kate Morton title, The Forgotten Garden, and wanted another rich and detailed read. I couldn't put down "Garden," and loved it more than any other book in the last month or so. So, I ordered The Secret Keeper.What I found was that unlike Garden, Secret Keeper had a bit of a 'depressing' feel to it I couldn't quite shake. Not bad, not morbid or distasteful, but something I couldn't put my hand on. Maybe it was 'my mood.' Sometimes you aren't that into reading anything. But I believe that wasn't it. I found the past and present narratives just a hint confusing, too. I had to remember who was who with the minor characters, even though, as with every other Kate Morton title,they were richly developed. I loved some of them a great deal, including Jimmy's dad. The other two 'dads' got a little confusing, as they seemed to be the same man in different eras. Different nations, even.World War II was a character in the book, and I felt the shakiness (emotional and physical) of the time in Dorothy's chapters. Morton does this especially well. Her historical detail is outstanding! I liked Jimmy, but felt his background didn't remain 'true' throughout the tales. He seemed to be too 'sophisticated' by the final chapters, which made me like him more. I do understand that he was described by Dorothy, but the point is, Dorothy was from a similar background. In the Vivian chapters he was not the very low income boy from those earlier chapters. Vivian would have noticed, I think, and probably commented on it a little at first. That threw a monkey-wrench into the 'willing suspension of disbelief.' Ditto the author husband of Vivian's descriptions.Mostly, I felt there were 'too many' characters to hold on to. THAT made it harder to fall in to each narration. Great characters, but a LOT of 'em. Large families, mostly. But also a play with too many 'parts.'So, even though I really LIKED this book, I think it might have been better with a bit of editing. Now, don't ask me who I'd have gotten of...but may be a few of the background characters might have been just that, background. Kate Morton develops these 'snapshots' of people in varied times, which she does almost TOO well! So, a 4, not a 5. Even a 4.5.
