If I were comparing this book to the more accomplished "artistic" writers, I would give it only three stars. But the author isn't pretentious or literary--just telling what he has learned in a simple straightforward manner.He also has some humorous twists to reality. "All my relationships, including my three marriages, were all about me, and so they all failed because they couldn't please me." Location 107. There you have it--in a nutshell the recognition of what "grownup" is all about--not centering on yourself.Of course we can all sympathize with what we thought we knew and what we know we didn't know as young folks. "If only what I knew what I know now!" To be young again but knowing what we know now--that's the regret we can have. But Rick Hawkins doesn't wallow in any of that. He shares his youthful attempts at success in love--and we can groan and laugh with him.So this little book is a revelation of one man's journey to "Good Choices" and accepting that "You Are Who You Are." And since "We're All in This Together," let's learn from each other. I'm glad that Rick Hawkins has allowed me to learn, although at age 70 it's more recognizing what I should have learned before now! Enjoy and relax with this book.

This book is well written, from the heart. The writer's personal experience translates into easy to understand concepts (not always easy to follow) which can have an amazing effect of peoples lives. I would recommend this to anyone, especially those who seem uneasy about just plain living.

Ok, friends……I just read one of the best little books I've ever read in my life! Yes, a little book….only 38 pages… full of gems of wisdom. I underlined, circled and made notes on nearly every page and will re-read this book for sure over the years, over the course of raising my sons and over the course of living my life. Rickey Hawkins who I'm very proud to call my friend (we both attend and take classes at the awesome Center for Spiritual Living Nashville ) offers up what he has learned in his life (and it hasn't been an easy life) in hopes that it will help younger people make better choices. Indeed it WILL help young people make better choices but it has lessons for all of us, lessons about ourselves and about the kind of parents, friends and people we surely all want to be. I am so thankful to Rick for his writing and for his beautiful heart. He truly is a blessing to every person he meets…..and he is a wonderfully gifted and creative writer! I hope you get to meet him one day and that you will purchase your own copy of his fantastic book. You will be inspired!
