Angel Unaware is by Dale Evans Rogers. It is about the disabled daughter of Dale Evans and Roy Rogers.I first read this book as a teenager and it was brought to my attention again while talking with another educator. I decided it was time to revisit this book and I was so glad that I did. There are many things in it that I forgot or didn’t catch when reading it so many years ago.Robin Elizabeth Rogers was born on August 26, 1950 to Dale and Roy Rogers. They were already the parents of Dusty, Cheryl, and Linda. However, Robin was to be special. She was a mongoloid and was not expected to live very long at all. People in this time period usually put their handicapped children into homes where they could be “taken care of” and not interfere with the family life. Dale and Roy were adamant from the first that they would take their daughter home and bring her up there where they could have a hand in her lessons and learning and could monitor her progress.They hired a special nurse, Jo, to care for Robin when they were not there. They wanted the best for her. They were able to keep Robin alive for a little over two years and loved her dearly. They always knew she was just loaned to them by God.After her death, Dale wrote this short novel in honor of Robin and what she taught them while she was in their lives. She felt they were truly blessed. Dale tells this story as if Robin were telling what happened to her and includes Robin’s talking to God.It is an inspirational little book that is easily read but contains such a complexity of emotions that is breaks your heart as it inspires you to be a better person.

Angel Unaware is the true story of Roy Rogers' and Dale Evans' little daughter Robin, who was born with Downs Syndrome and heart problems, and how Roy and Dale and close family and friends grew and matured in their faith in Christ as they dealt with Robin's physical problems. Their love for children with handicaps came out of this experience. A very touching story written by Dale Evans Rogers, that will encourage parents and family members who are involved on a daily basis with children with handicaps.

This is the most special book you'll ever read. I had a brother who had CP and Downs. He was a blessing to our family of 9 children and he was the oldest. My big brother taught all of us and 20 grandchildren and everyone he met what love was all about. If you weren't blessed to have someone so special in your life read this book. It will give you a window into these beautiful people.

Have loved this book since my grandmother first placed it in my hands when I was eight-years-old. Short, easy read for mind, long-term, heavy read for the heart and soul.

I got this book for my DIL, who recently became a nurse & wants to work in neonatal. She read the book in one sitting, and couldn't put it down-that is how I was, when I read it many years ago. She plans to remember this book & recommend it to parents who may need it one day. Highly recommended, Dale Evans Rogers had a wonderful outlook on life that she conveys with such calming grace & dignity. Very touching & somehow uplifting, despite the subject content.

This is the first book I ever read. I hated to read when I was 12 so I had to do a book report and found the thinnest book I could. Since then, and I am 63 I read ALL THE TIME. Sweet story. Thank you for having an original

This story definitely changed my mind about Roy and Dale Evans. I had visited their museum as a kid and all I saw was hunting trophies, Trigger, Buttermilk and Bullet-I was too young to pay attention to the biography at the time. My dad was like, "oh, they adopted all of these kids for appearances sake, rich people do that." He was very wrong to have said that. This story tells it, without going into detail, and tells it so well. I am so glad she wrote it and so happy to have had the opportunity to have read it.

Loved this heartwarming loving beautiful story. My Grandson has down syndrome and has always done something to my heart I can't explain. He's 18 now and I hope he does well in his adult life. He is my angel always. Thank you God for sending him to our family.
