About the Author

Pippa Guy is the first female senior bartender to be appointed to The Savoy's world-renowned American Bar in over 100 years. Let's Get Fizzical by Pippa Guy & DK Publishing is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in late October.With its recipes for champagne and sparkling wine cocktails, it's very pretty and has a vaguely Art Deco use of font and graphics. The most helpful aspect is the Flavor chart/Venn diagram that you can use to match sparkling wine types to a specific flavor profile, as well as a glass level diagram (in addition to milliliter measurement) to assure for a proper-mixer-to-sparkling-wine ratio/appearance and suggestions for reinventions & virgin alternatives. My favorite recipes are for the Rossini (Prosecco bellini with strawberries), the Pornstar martini (fruit juices, Prosecco, and vanilla vodka), and Pink Tequila fizz (tequila, grapefruit and lime juice, rose, and hibiscus bitters).

Let's Get Fizzical wasn't really the book for me. While I found myself learning a lot about the different types of champagne and fizzy drinks, I didn't really like the writing style as whole. I found the style to be a little over the top and, forgive the pun, too bubbly for me to take very seriously.Still this book wasn't a complete waste of time. Like I said I did learn a lot about types and how champagne is made. Which I did find to be interesting. And the recipes themselves were alright, I could see myself possibly using some of them in the future. Though honestly a lot of them seemed to be over the top, not to mention expensive to make.In the end I gave this book 3 stars on Goodreads.

I just love this book! I love sparkling drinks and this really covers the spectrum! I really like the fact that the author covers how sparkling wines are made and how they are different. I find that she has some great charts that help you swap out for your own variations. The recipes themselves offer classic recipes as well as reinvented recipes for today’s tastes. The pictures and bright color formatting really make it pop.

YUM. A book full of sparkling cocktails pulled together by Pippa Guy, senior bartender at the "world's best bar" (American Bar at The Savoy Hotel): the recipes and ingredients sound delicious, and the gorgeous photographs make me want one of each RIGHT NOW. Helpful sections at the front of the book explain what makes wine sparkly; the difference between champagne, prosecco, cava, and sparkling wine; and some of the different ingredients and equipment needed for these drinks. Now, to plan a cocktail party!

I love this! My good friend got me a copy as part of a Prosecco themed Christmas gift since I love some bubbly. Of course, she found out that night that I was newly pregnant so no Prosecco for me. Love this book though because it gives the cocktail recipes and tips on how to “lose the booze” and what to replace. Great for me to make some delicious mocktails now and some celebratory mimosas in a couple months!
